Democrats’ Plan to Increase Taxes on Working Families ‘Disastrous’

“My friend Charlie Rangel understands more about taxes than most people, since he’s been here long enough to help write the 17,000 pages of tax regulations that Americans struggle with each and every day.  What I understand is that the tax relief passed by President Bush and the Republican Congress has left more money in pockets of hard working Americans at the end of each work week.

“By raising our taxes, Democrats will kill our economy and kill the growth that we are enjoying.  Democrats will bring back the marriage penalty, end the child tax credit and erase the reductions in capital gains dividends.  Democrats will take away the tax relief, which will start to eat away the 5.8 million new jobs that were created because American workers and small business owners got to keep more of what they earn. 

“American workers and families are taxed to death.  Nearly everything we do is taxed, whether it’s your morning coffee or phone call home.   Americans do not need to give the government even more money out of their pockets, they need to put Washington on a diet.”
