Customs will stop seizing drugs from Canada
Orlando, FL - U.S. Customs and Border Protection told Congress this week that it would no longer confiscate mail-order prescription drugs coming into the states from Canada after intercepting more than 40,000 such packages in less than a year. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Florida, who had pushed for an investigation into the seizures that began in November, hailed the federal agency's change as a major victory for consumers.

Senate approves radiation monitors at nation's ports
Washington, DC - The Senate today passed a sweeping anti-terrorism bill aimed at tightening security at the nation's ports, where experts say terrorists easily could smuggle into the U.S. weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear or so-called "dirty" bombs.

Nelson prefers ethanol, hybrids to offshore drilling |
West Palm Beach, FL - U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, who has fought oil and gas drilling off Florida's coast, said Monday that Americans must become less reliant on foreign oil. Nelson called for more use of ethanol and hybrid cars, and for new federal requirements that automobiles get 40 miles per gallon of fuel.
