Book-Signing with Sen. Barack Obama and Rep. Gwen Moore at Alverno College

(Milwaukee, WI)— Congresswoman Gwen Moore will be introducing Illinois Senator Barack Obama at a book-signing at Alverno College tomorrow for the Senator’s new book, “The Audacity of Hope:  Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.”  Senator Obama, though only two years into his first term in the United States Senate, has gained national recognition as a popular Democratic leader, and is considered to be a potential nominee for the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.  Copies of the book, which is currently ranked number two on the New York Times’ Best Seller List of Nonfiction Hardcover Books, are available for sale at the signing courtesy of Harry W. Information Session for Small Businesses to Learn About Contracts and Bid Process for New Milwaukee Job Corps Center

(Washington, DC)— Congresswoman Gwen Moore will host an information session for Milwaukee area small businesses to learn about the bid process associated with the new Job Corps Center slated to open in Milwaukee in December 2009 or Spring 2010.  The session will provide important information for small firms who are interested in competing to win contracts for the design and construction associated with establishing this new Center.  At this session small businesses will learn from Job Corps officials exactly what they need to do in order take part in architectural design/engineering, and construction bids as well as proposals to operate and provide services for the $28 million Center.  (view more... )

Workshop to be Held on October 14 to Assist Those Eligible in Seeking U.S. Citizenship

Milwaukee's Urban Entrepreneurship Center to Launch

(Milwaukee, WI)— Tomorrow Congresswoman Gwen Moore will be participating in the launch of Milwaukee’s Urban Entrepreneurship Center, for which she secured $150,000 in the U.S. House of Representatives’ FY2007 Urban Development Appropriations bill.  Earlier this year, the city of Milwaukee was selected to become a member of the Urban Entrepreneur Partnership (UEP), a national initiative designed to promote inner-city entrepreneurship and job growth. Education Town Hall Hosted by West Allis – West Milwaukee School District

(Milwaukee, WI)— Congresswoman Gwen Moore will be participating in a town hall hosted by the West Allis – West Milwaukee School District Board of Education to discuss federal education issues.  The forum will feature a question and answer session, during which Congresswoman Moore will discuss topics such as No Child Left Behind, the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Title I funding, school vouchers, and the federal budget cuts that have affected education in recent years.
