Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva to Honor Local Tucson Family as this Year’s Angels in Adoption Recipient
Tucson, AZ - Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva will honor a Tucson couple as this year’s recipient of the Angels in Adoption™ Award at his Tucson office, 810 East 22nd Street, on Monday, October 30 at 10:00am.
Jesse and Margie Salcido were nominated by Rep. Grijalva on behalf of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) due to their tireless efforts to be an advocate for adoptive and foster children.
“My nomination of Jesse and Margie Salcido was based on a desire to provide love and guidance to children”, said Grijalva. “Not only do they have five biological children, but in twenty years, opened their home to eighty-three children and adopted three children. They are well-respected by their peers and their level of compassion, patience and dedicated is truly unmatched.”
CCAI is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to raising congressional and public awareness about the tens of thousands of foster children in this country. Each year, CCAI invites all members of the United States Congress to participate in the Angels in Adoption™ program as it is a unique opportunity for federal legislators to recognize individuals from their home states that have improved the lives of children through adoption.
Mr. and Mrs. Salcido attended the Angels in Adoption™ Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. on September 20th.
The Angels in Adoption™ Awards Gala boasts the most Congressional support of any child welfare event in the nation and is the only program that allows members of Congress to take an active role in selecting a constituent of their choice as an award recipient.
