ESHOO RESPONDS TO "DO NOT CALL" DECISION
Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-14) released the following statement today in response to a decision by the U.S. District Court in Oklahoma blocking implementation of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) "Do Not Call List."
"I'm deeply disappointed by the Court's decision," Eshoo said. "Millions of Americans have demanded in a loud and clear way that a ˜Do Not Call" list be established. Today, over 50 million phone numbers have been registered so far. The federal court shouldn't stand in the way of something so clearly in the interest of the American consumer and I hope this decision will be overturned. The American people deserve protection from unwanted telemarketing calls."
Rep. Eshoo was a co-sponsor of H.R. 395, which provided the FTC with the resources necessary to create and enforce the Do Not Call List.
