Gibbons Hails Nevada’s Personal Income Growth Numbers
Nevada Ranked #1 for Second Quarter

9/26/2006

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its second quarter report for state personal income growth, which showed Nevada to have the highest rate in the nation. U.S. Congressman Jim Gibbons (R-Nev) lauded Nevada's number one rank and attributed this accomplishment to lower taxes and the pro-growth policies that continue to stimulate the state's economy.

“Here in Congress I have strongly supported steps to grow the economy and reduce the tax burden on hard working families and businesses over the past ten years. As a result, the unemployment rate is low and people are earning higher incomes,” said Gibbons. “By promoting pro-growth policies, we ensure that Nevada’s economic climate is one that continues to support and stimulate the fastest growing state in the nation.”

According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the primary contributors to Nevada’s second quarter growth were the state’s accommodations and construction industries. Additionally, Nevada’s population is reported to be growing four times faster than that of the entire nation.
