A bill to state the policy of the United States on the intercontinental ballistic missile force.

Date Introduced: 10/27/05
Bill Number: S.1931
Description: A number of Department of Defense studies of US strategic forces in recent years, including the 1993 and 2001 Nuclear Posture Reviews, have cited 500 missiles with a single warhead as most optimum configuration of the ICBM force. If that number is decreases, I and others feel that that it would negatively impact the deterrent value of the ICBM force at this time and weaken our national security. With the Department of Defense going through its Quadrennial Defense Review, due at the beginning of next year, this legislation would keep the 500 missile policy.
