Breast Cancer Research Stamp Reauthorization Act of 2005

Date Introduced: 01/24/05
Bill Number: S.37
Description: Breast cancer affects thousands of women in Wyoming and millions of women across the nation. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 300 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in Wyoming in 2005 alone. Fortunately, breakthroughs in cancer research have helped more and more people become cancer survivors rather than cancer victims. For these reasons, I am a cosponsor of the “Breast Cancer Research Stamp Reauthorization Act of 2005.” Since 1998, the Untied States Postal Service has sold over 588 million breast cancer research stamps, raising $42.66 million for breast cancer research. Without congressional action this stamp will expire on December 31, 2005. The reauthorization bill I cosponsored will permit the sale of the breast cancer stamp for two additional years. Every dollar we continue to raise will help save lives.
