City of Green River Land Conveyance Act

Date Introduced: 03/06/06
Bill Number: S.2373
Description: This bill will provide the City of Green River the opportunity to purchase 132 acres of land from the Bureau of Land Management. The primary purpose of the bill is to allow a necessary access road to be build adjacent to Interstate – 80 between Rock Springs and Green River. The new road will allow access for emergency vehicles and other traffic when I-80 is closed due to bad weather and accidents. Although the cities are only fourteen miles apart, I-80 is currently the only road between them. At the same time, the conveyance will provide additional land for the city to grow. The city is bursting at the seams due to the energy development in southwestern Wyoming, but is completely landlocked by rough topography and federal land. This bill will allow the City to develop new land.
