Louis Braille Bicentennial--Braille Literacy Commemorative Coin Act

Description: Louis Braille invented the Braille method for reading and writing by the blind that has allowed millions of blind people to be literate participants in their societies. This legislation will require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and issue $1 coins emblematic of the life and legacy of Louis Braille. Surcharges from the sale of the coins minted under this Act will be paid to the National Federation of the Blind to further its programs to promote Braille literacy.
