Resolution recognizing the life of former Sergeant of Arms, Henry Giugni

Description: Henry Ku’ualoha Giugni passed away on November 3, 2005. Mr. Giugni began his service in the Senate in 1963 in the office of Senator Daniel K. Inouye. He served as Sergeant-at-Arms from 1987 to 1990. He was the first person of color and the first Polynesian to be appointed Sergeant-at-Arms in the Senate. Mr. Giugni also appointed the first minority to lead the Sergeant-at-Arms Service Department and was the first to assign women to the Capitol Police plainclothes unit. During his tenure, he expanded services, including maps and U.S. Capitol tours, to visitors with disabilities.
