Pasco County was created in 1887 from a portion of Hernando County.  It was named for Samuel Pasco of Monticello, speaker of the Florida House of Representatives at the time the county was created and later a U.S. senator.

Pasco County is located just north of Tampa and is home to more than 350,000 people, most of whom live in the Tampa suburbs.

In Pasco County you will also find Crystal Springs, home to the Zephyrhills Bottling Plant, which bottles, distributes and sells millions of bottles of water across the southeast region each year.

When visiting Pasco County, be sure to visit historic Main Street in Zephyrhills, the Dade City Courthouse, Anclote Key and the Withlacoochee River Park.

Also be sure to visit the Pioneer Museum in Dade City.  On display there, you will find old buildings, clothing and artifacts of early pioneer life in Florida.  The museum, totally supported by donations and grants, was founded and is maintained by eastern Pasco residents.
