Also part of Florida’s Nature Coast, Citrus County is known for its scenic waterways, clear springs, and gentle manatees.  Home to more than 120,000 residents, Citrus County is the perfect spot for nature-lovers and outdoorsmen.

David Levy Yulee, a U.S. senator from Florida for whom Levy County is named, established a thriving sugar plantation and mill near the town of Homosassa in the Nineteenth Century.  The Yulee mansion was burned by Union troops in 1864 and the mill was left in ruins.  The mill’s ruins are a popular tourist attraction today.
