If you live outside Contra Costa County, California and are in crisis, consult the yellow pages of your local phone directory under "crisis intervention" or "suicide prevention." You may also seek help at a community mental health center, from a private practioner, or from a minister or rabbi.

2) Contra Costa Child Care Council
The Contra Costa Child Care Council answers 2,000 calls a month from parents, providers and advocates seeking child care services and resources.
Our mission is to promote quality child care by:

  • Empowering parents and strengthening families.
  • Developing and supporting quality and affordable child care and early education which values cultural diversity and respects the role of parents as the child's primary caregiver.
  • Building a broad base of community support for children, families and child care.
  • So that Contra Costa's children will lead happier and healthier lives, and reach their full potential.

    3) Rosie the Riveter WWII Historic Site
    This memorial, located in Richmond, was designed by visual artist Susan Schwartzenberg and landscape architect/environmental sculptor Cheryl Barton. The Rosie the Riveter Memorial: Honoring American Women's Labor During WWII is the first in the nation to honor the estimated 18 million women worked in WWII defense industries and support services including steel mills, foundries, lumber mills, aircraft factories, offices, hospitals and daycare centers.

    7) The Federal Trade Commission's Proposed National "DO NOT CALL" Registry
    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is soliciting consumer comments on a proposal to amend the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) by, among other things, creating a national "do not call" registry. The agency enforces the TSR, which protects consumers from unwanted late-night telemarketing calls and prohibits deceptive sales calls. Under the FTC's proposal, it would be illegal for telemarketers to call consumers who place their phone number on the national registry.
