“While we’ve increased
the commitments of our military, we decreased our
commitments to our military. National defense is the
only major federal spending category to decline in the past 10
years. Congress has added more than $30 billion to the
president’s defense requests since 1995, but even so, real
military spending has fallen.” |
Congressman Gallegly was
presented a citation from U.S. Air Force Col. (Ret.) Jerry E.
Knotts of the Military Order of the World Wars, Conejo Valley
Chapter, for his bill to create a plaque honoring those who
served in Vietnam and died after the war, but whose death was
a result of the war. Gallegly also has been awarded the
Silver Patrick Henry Award, the highest honor the
chapter can bestow, and the Gold Patrick Henry
Award—the highest honor bestowed nationally, which is
bestowed on a single individual each year—for his legislation
on behalf of the military. |
