Fortuņo invites to participate in the National Public Lands Day by cleaning the Fort Saint Cristobal

(Washington D.C.)- Resident Commissioner, Luis G. Fortuņo, invited the general public to participate in the National Day of Public Lands to be celebrated on September 30th in the surroundings of Fort Saint Cristobal in Old San Juan.  Fortuņo made the announcement with the Superintendent of the San Juan Historic Site, Walter Chavez, and invited the general public to participate in the event and to take advantage of this great opportunity to enjoy the environment.

According to Fortuņo, this event is a special day in which groups and families of volunteers offer their time and work to help maintain the millions of acres of public land throughout the nation.  In San Juan, this day helps strengthen the obligations with the employees of the National Park Service and to offer support to the employees and those in charge of preserving the historical structures for the benefit of future generations.

The volunteers that help with the preservation and cleaning of Fort Saint Cristobal will receive free entrance passes to the two forts in the San Juan Historic Site and to El Yunque National Rainforest.
