The
Democratic Women's Working Group continues to fight for policies
that promote equality and opportunity for all women, from measures
that create good jobs to initiatives on affordable healthcare
and quality education.
As middle class Americans are struggling to achieve financial
security, the Republican agenda ignores the real challenges they
are facing. From slashing funding for health care and community
development programs to eliminating education initiatives, the
Bush Administration's budget is an assault on the values and policies
that are critical to American women.
Democratic women in Congress believe that all women should have
equal opportunity to succeed, a safe and prosperous America, a
secure retirement, good-paying jobs, access to affordable, comprehensive
health care and the best education for our children.

and the President's Budget: More of the Same Misplaced Priorities

Over
the past three decades, we have made tremendous strides in closing
the wage gap between women and men. But we can't stop now. Despite
remarkable changes in women's labor force participation, women continue
to earn lower wages compared to men.
