SENATOR COLLINS' STATEMENT ON THE RESIGNATION OF ELAINE DEZENSKI

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Susan Collins, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, issued the following statement today regarding the resignation of Elaine Dezenski as DHS Assistant Secretary for Policy Development.

“Elaine Dezenski has played a key role in building the policy foundations of the Department of Homeland Security. From her work helping create the Transportation Security Administration to her current role as Acting Assistant Secretary for Policy Development, her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the department’s principal initiatives. Elaine’s tireless emphasis on cargo and supply chain security has ensured that international trade enriches without unduly endangering us. Her work on the Visa Waiver Program and other travel initiatives has helped to ensure that our borders are strong yet remain welcoming to legitimate travelers. The vision with which she approached these issues and many others has been a tremendous asset for the Department and one that will be missed with her departure. I wish Elaine well in her new endeavors.”
