Working Hard for Clean Drinking Water in Lake Waco

Edwards has worked in collaboration with local stakeholders to support innovative solutions as part of his ongoing efforts to protect and improve water quality at Lake Waco. Chet has secured $2.5 million for Texas A&M; to research the use of pulverized cattle manure in coal fired power plants.

Chet has also included $10 million for a North Bosque River clean-up plan designed to improve water quality at Lake Waco under the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA); which has passed the House and is expected to pass the Senate. The plan would authorize federal funding for Army Corps of Engineers clean-up efforts in the watershed for the first time. WRDA also authorizes $20 million for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements in Bosque, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Hill, Hood, Johnson, Madison, McLennan, Limestone, Robertson, and Somervell Counties in the 17th District.

Congressman Edwards believes this research holds great promise in significantly reducing the quantity of cow manure in the North Bosque River while also protecting the future air quality of our area by reducing pollution from coal fired power plants.
