An original co-sponsor of the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, Congressman Chaka Fattah releases the following statement.

"The Voting Rights Act remains the legislative centerpiece of the civil rights movement. It has provided millions of Americans the opportunity to participate fully in the political process. I encourage my colleagues to honor the legacies of the civil rights activists who sacrificed, some of them with their very lives, to renew America's commitment to an unfettered, uncompromised right to vote."
