Fighting Waste/Controlling Spending
Balancing a checkbook to make ends meet is a reality for American families and it is time that our federal government faced that same reality. Eliminating government waste, fraud, and abuse is our responsibility to taxpayers and an issue that can no longer be ignored. That is why I've joined three of my colleagues in introducing the "Family Budget Protection Act." This legislation would overhaul the government’s budget process, making it easier to rein in excessive spending and improve the government’s accounting practices. It would establish a commission to investigate all federal programs and compile a list of potential savings from waste, fraud, and abuse. Identifying waste would allow Congress to redirect those funds to higher priorities like deficit reduction, defense, or making the pro-growth tax cuts permanent.
