Job Creation/Economic Growth
Reports continue to tell us that the economy is improving, jobs are being created, and more Americans own their own home that at any other time in our nation’s history. However, none of those figures matter to the person who is struggling to make ends meet, or still looking for work, or cannot afford to own a home. That is why I will continue to support policies like increasing the Child Tax Credit, eliminating the marriage tax penalty, lowering tax rates for individuals, increasing the amount of investments that small businesses can deduct, reducing capital gains and dividends, and providing state’s with fiscal relief.
And while these policies are working and employers do see growth in the national economy, because of overly restrictive regulations, rising healthcare and energy costs, and excessive taxation, they have little incentive to hire. That is why I’ve introduced the “Small Business Jobs Creation Act of 2004,” which will give small businesses a $3,500 tax credit for each new job they create during the next five years. By offering tax relief to reduce the cost of hiring new employees, Congress can reduce unemployment and ensure that America is the best place in the world to do business.
