Health Care
Medical liability reform, Health Savings Accounts, Association Health Plans, and providing Medicare prescription drug coverage to our seniors—these are the policies that will strengthen the best healthcare system in the world. And these are the policies that will reduce the rising cost of medical coverage and slow the increasing number of uninsured.
We’ve already made significant improvements with the passage of the Medicare Prescription Drug and Modernization Act of 2003, which provides seniors with the option of participating in a completely voluntary prescription drug benefit. We’ve worked to adopt laws like the HEALTH Act, which would prevent frivolous lawsuits and keep healthcare costs low. We’ve fought to give small businesses more affordable options for their healthcare coverage with passage of the Small Business Health Fairness Act; and with passage of Fair Care for the Uninsured we’ve created a tax credit for uninsured individuals who purchase health insurance.
While many vital issues face this nation, most will agree that almost none come as close to home as our health care needs. I will continue the work I started in the 108th Congress and fight to ensure that each and every American has access to affordable healthcare coverage.
