Tuesday, July 12, 2005 Hoyer Cuts Ribbon for new FDA Facility at White Oak Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today celebrated the opening of the new Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) Office Building at the new FDA campus at White Oak by participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony with federal, state and local officials. Congressman Hoyer has helped to secure over $442 million in federal funds for the consolidation of the FDA facilities at the Federal Research Center at White Oak.

Thursday, June 23, 2005 Hoyer on HIDTA Program's Effectiveness Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers from the House and the Senate today to discuss recent findings from the National HIDTA Annual Report on Performance Measures which collectively reject comments made by Drug Czar, John Walters, that the HIDTA Program is “unable to demonstrate results.”
(RELATED LINK) Sunday, June 12, 2005 Hoyer Participates in Wade In With Bernie Fowler Congressman Steny Hoyer joined former State Senator Bernie Fowler in his 18th Annual “Wade In” on Sunday, June 12th. The Wade In was started by Mr. Fowler as an unscientific but telling manner of gauging the water quality of the Patuxent River. Congressman Hoyer has attended the Wade In for many of the past 18 years.
As a young man in the 1950's Mr. Fowler remembers wading after crabs in the Patuxent River and being able to “see his toes” in chest deep water. Then came the scum and silt and his toes vanished.
In an effort to emphasize the importance of working together to clean up our waterways, particularly those that flow into the Chesapeake Bay, Mr. Fowler has organized the Wade In. Each year, hundreds of people walk hand-in-hand into the waters of the Patuxent River to gauge the health and cleanliness of the waterway.
Tuesday, May 10, 2005 Rep. Hoyer Introduces Full-Service Community Schools Bill Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) introduced a bill to authorize funding for Full-Service Community Schools (H.R. 2207), which are public schools that coordinate multiple educational and social service programs with community-based organizations and public/private partnerships. (RELATED LINK) Monday, May 09, 2005 Hoyer Breaks Ground for Presidential Helicopter Facility On Monday, May 9, Congressman Hoyer joined state, local and Navy officials to break ground for the new VXX Presidential Helicopter Program Support Facility at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Congressman Hoyer was instrumental in securing the initial $40 million in federal funds last year to begin construction of the facility to house the Marine Corps’ Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program at Pax.
