Senator Santorum Comments on North Korea Nuclear Weapons Testing
October 9, 2006
Pittsburgh, PA – U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today issued the following statement regarding North Korea’s claim to have carried out a successful underground nuclear weapons test:
“I condemn the actions of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-il. North Korea’s threatening behavior will not be tolerated by the United States. North Korea is not only exploring missile technology, but also transferring that technology to Iran and possibly Syria. This presents a very dangerous threat to the United States and we must remain united with our international allies and condemn the actions of North Korea and respond in an appropriate manner. North Korea’s actions cause great concern. This is no time for inexperienced, weak leaders – we must remain resolute in the fight to stop the spread of nuclear weapons to rogue nations.”
