March 03, 2006 Contact: Leslie Phillips (202) 224-2627 CONGRESS APPROVES COLLINS-LIEBERMAN "KATRINA EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE ACT" Legislation Extends Disaster Unemployment Benefits   Congress has given final approval Friday to legislation introduced by Senators Susan Collins, R-Me., and Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., that would provide relief for many victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Collins-Lieberman Katrina Emergency Assistance Act would extend disaster unemployment benefits, some of which are set to expire March 4.
