Medicare & Social Security

Congressman Hinojosa is an advocate for the federal programs that America's seniors depend upon. He strongly believes that Social Security and Medicare are promises of health and quality of life for the elderly.

Congressman Hinojosa meets with seniors to discuss the new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and Social Security benefits.

Congressman Hinojosa believes that America's seniors deserve a guaranteed, comprehensive prescription drug benefit within the Medicare program. That is far from what was passed in the Medicare bill of 2003. The new law, which has been riddled with implementation problems, created a huge gap in coverage for millions of seniors and the disabled.

Also, seniors fighting cancer need access to community cancer care, especially in rural and medically underserved areas. However, the new Medicare law threatens the future of such clinics by cutting billions in oncology reimbursements. Additionally, the new law squanders the opportunity to lower the prescription drug costs for every American. It is for these reasons that Congressman Hinojosa is fighting to repeal the new Medicare law and replace it with one that gives seniors the benefits and security they deserve.

Hinojosa will continue to fight for Medicare and Social Security, ensuring their ability to serve future generations. He is committed to the disabled, disadvantaged, and the retirees that depend on these hugely successful programs.
