The annual congressional art competition, An Artistic Discovery, brings together the best student artwork from across the Eleventh District, and features a $12,000 scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design as the top prize. In addition to the scholarship, the winning entry will be hung, along with entries from other congressional districts, in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Any student who attends high school in the Eleventh District is eligible to compete. The contest is open to students in public and private schools, as well as to home school students. The deadline to enter the competition is Wednesday, May 4, 2005.

The wining entry will represent the Eleventh District in the national exhibition in Washington, DC in June. The winning artwork will be displayed for one year as part of the national exhibit in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol, which showcases the winners of over 435 congressional district art contests from around the nation. Also travel expenses to Washington will be provided to the winner in kind by a local business.

Artwork must be two dimensional with concentrations in paintings (oil, watercolors, acrylic), collages, drawings, prints, computer generated art and photography.
