History of the Third Congressional District

Did you know that 30 different people have represented the Grand Rapids area in the U.S. House of Representatives? That only seven of them were born in the state of Michigan and that only two were born in Grand Rapids? That the person with the shortest term of office served just five months, while the longest serving respresentative held office for more than 26 years? That five of them went on to serve as U.S. Senators, while one became both Vice President and President? For these and other interesting tidbits about the people who represented our area in Congress, click here for a report prepared by the Congressional Research Service, with links to biographical information about each person.
