Ehlers to host Academy Night for prospective students

 

Nov. 20 Open House gives area students chance to meet reps from U.S. service academies

 
 

GRAND RAPIDS – Students and parents interested in learning more about the nation’s five service academies and how to apply for an appointment to the academies are invited to attend an Academy Night sponsored by Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers, R-Grand Rapids, on Monday, Nov. 20.

 

The Open House is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Museum, 303 Pearl St. NW, Grand Rapids. The event is co-sponsored by Congressman Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland.

 

The academies include the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.


Representative from each of the academies will make a presentation at the beginning of the event and will be available to answer questions throughout the evening. Mary Ellen Sullivan, Congressman Ehlers’ Constituent Services Representative, will discuss the congressional nomination process and Paula Van Dyke, Constituent Projects Manager for Hoekstra’s office, will also be available to answer questions.
