CONGRESSWOMAN JOHNSON RECEIVES "A" FOR SUPPORT OF THE ARTS

Dallas, TX - (Friday, November 3, 2006) - The Congressional Arts Report Card by the Americans for Arts Action Fund recently gave Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson an "A," in recognition of her support for the arts.

"I am honored to receive the Americans for Arts Action Fund's highest legislative rating for Members of Congress. Throughout my career as a public servant I have been a proud sponsor and supporter of legislative measures that seek to bolster arts and humanities institutions here in Dallas and across the country. Art brings greater meaning to our lives. It uplifts the human spirit and challenges our thoughts for the better," said Congresswoman Johnson. "I am proud to support the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, The Women’s Museum, the Dallas Opera, the Black Academy of Arts and Letters and many other institutions dedicated to appreciating art throughout our wonderful community."

The Congressional Arts Report Card encompasses the 109th Congress. Its scale is based on a variety of factors, such as Congresswoman Johnson’s voting record, supporting the arts and actively participating in the Congressional Arts Caucus.

Americans for the Arts is the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. For over 45 years the organization has represented and worked with local communities in creating and expanding opportunities for every American to participate in and appreciate all forms of the arts and humanities.
