On June 16th, Senator Coleman, Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, held a hearing before representatives from the Government Accountability Office regarding 33,000 contractors at federal civilian departments and agencies who owe $3.3 billion in unpaid taxes.

On June 22, Senator Coleman congratulated Robin Hansen on receiving the Good People Jefferson Award. This award was established as a way to honor individuals for their achievements and contributions to the community. Hansen was chosen for her 4H leadership and her involvement in a local military support group, among other activities. Also honored were John & Joanne Gedker of Austin, MN. Since April 2000, the Gedker’s have volunteered more than 4,618 hours at the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

This June, Senator Coleman was able to help two Guatemalan firefighters, Leslie Jeaneth Monzon Leal and Luis Rodolfo Espana, obtain visitor visas to attend the Minnesota State Fire Department Association Conference in Grand Rapids.

On June 22,  Senator Norm Coleman delivered remarks on the benefits of passing an Energy bill at an Energy press conference. In addition to noting how the Energy Bill is designed to increase our nation’s energy supplies and promote renewable energy usage,  Sen. Coleman also emphasized how this bill will over time lessen our dependence on foreign energy, lower energy prices, and save and create American jobs.
