Women in the Senate is one of more than 50 VRD categories. Rebecca Latimer Felton was the first woman to serve in the Senate; she was appointed in 1922 at the age of 87, and served for just one day. To date, thirty-three women have served in the U.S. Senate, with fourteen serving at this time.
