How Rosa is Fighting to Secure our Ports

Rosa was one of the first Members of Congress to criticize the sale of six American port operations to Dubai Ports World, a company owned entirely by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While the UAE recently has become a better ally, its history of preventing terrorism is checkered at best.  Moreover, the Bush administration failed to carry out the 45-day investigation into the national security effects of this deal, which is required by law.

On this page, you can keep track of all that Rosa is doing to ensure that the companies that operate our ports have America's security interests at heart, including press releases, floor speeches, and legislation.

Legislation

Rosa has cosponsored H.R. 4807, to require an investigation under the Defense Production Act of 1950 of the acquisition by Dubai Ports World of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company.  This legislation would also give Congress the authority to block this deal if national security concerns warranted.
