At left, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro with Calvin Earl in her Washington DC office.  Mr. Earl was in town to witness Rosa introducing H.Res. 790, a resolution to recognize the African American spiritual as a national treasure.

 

 

 

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Derby Mayor Tony Staffieri, State Representative Linda Gentile, and Derby Housing Director Neil Dorso raise a new flag at the Stygar Terrace Housing Complex.  Rosa presented the flag to the complex, which was flown over the U.S. Capitol in its honor.

Congresswoman DeLauro and Senators Kerry, Clinton, and Schumer call for increased funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to help Connecticut citizens to meet their energy needs.

 

Congresswoman DeLauro and Senator Harkin (D-Iowa) announce the introduction of DeLauro's Menu Education and Labeling (MEAL) Act. The legislation would extend nutrition labeling beyond packaged foods to include foods at fast-food and other chain restaurants.

 

Congresswoman DeLauro joined students at East Rock Magnet School in New Haven to celebrate the success of their Model Laptop Program.  With Congresswoman DeLauro's help, East Rock was selected as one of 5 schools in the country to be chosen for this program.

 

Congresswoman DeLauro welcomed NASA Astronaut Dr. Daniel Barry to a youth forum at the North Haven Parks and Recreation Center.  Dr. Barry spoke to local young people age six through twelve about the history of space travel and the importance of working hard in school.


Congresswoman DeLauro met with Women's World Cup goalie Saskia Webber.  Webber served as backup goalie for the United States team after an outstanding career for Rutgers University.  Also pictured is Congresswoman Grace Napolitano of California.

Every year, Congresswoman DeLauro joins with the New Haven Irish community to march in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

 

Congresswoman DeLauro was recognized for her contribution to protecting and enhancing  America's parks with a Friend of the National Parks award.  She is joined by National Parks Conservation Association Chairman, Bill Watson and President, Tom Kiernan.
