Low-Income Heating Aid

With temperatures dropping and oil prices soaring, we’re all worried sick about people without the means to heat their homes.

No family should have to choose between food, medicine or fuel. No homeless shelter, hospital or school should have to close its doors, even for a day, because of oil prices.

That's why I teamed up with Citizens Energy and the Mass Energy Consumer Alliance to broker an unprecedented,  first-in-the-nation deal with  PDVSA, the Venezuelan state oil company, to deliver 12 million gallons of home heating oil at a 40% discount over the next four months.  The fuel will be delivered by PDVSA subsidiary CITGO - a familiar name to Bay Staters (especially Red Sox fans).

Citizens Energy and Mass Energy  will  screen prospective recipients for financial need and arrange for fuel deliveries directly to tens of thousands of qualifying households and literally hundreds of institutions that serve low-income communities.
