Chairman Nathan Deal led a Congressional Delegation trip consisting of three fellow members of the Energy & Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health. The purpose of this trip was to examine the healthcare delivery system for our troops participating on the frontlines of the War on Terror. Chairman Deal, Congressman Charlie Norwood (R-GA), Congressman Michael Burgess (R-TX), and Congressman Gene Green (D-TX) spent several days visiting with injured soldiers, physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators in military hospitals throughout Germany, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The delegation also received several briefings from the generals and other commanding officers inside the war zones.
