Need Help with a Government Agency?

If you are having difficulties with a particular Federal agency, such as Social Security benefits, Veterans' Affairs, immigration and visas, or the IRS, my office may be able to help.

The Privacy Act of 1974 requires that you complete and sign a Privacy Act Request Form before any elected official can assist you: print out the form, complete it, and mail it to my Wethersfield, CT office (below) with a letter explaining the help you need and include copies of any appropriate documentation involved in your case. A staff member from the Wethersfield office will be assigned to you.

Please be aware that contacting and working with government agencies to resolve your case takes many weeks—more often months—and that this process does not guarantee a solution to your case.

Also be aware that due to the separation of the legislative and judicial branches of government, members of Congress cannot intervene with criminal or civil legal cases. If you are having a legal problem involving the courts or prison system, you may need to contact the Justice Department or consider help from an attorney.
