Issues & Legislation

Working to help build a stronger, better North Dakota is my first priority in the United States Senate, every day. In this section, you can learn more about some of the proposals I’m working to advance in the Senate toward that end.

Building North Dakota

My first priority in the United States Senate is to work for North Dakota. I have introduced legislation to stem the outmigration from our rural counties. I have pushed for a bill that will increase the amount of wind energy that North Dakota can produce and export. And I haveworked to support our agriculture industry – a key part of our state’s economy.

Improving the Quality of Life for our Families

My priorities are improving health care and retirement security; making our families safe; and ensuring that hard work is rewarded with fair pay.

Strengthening our Economy

In order to have a strong foundation for a robust economy, we must have tax policies that make sense and don’t reward companies that move manufacturing jobs overseas. We also must have trade policies that are fair and that are mutually beneficial to the United States as well as our trading partners. Finally, we must have energy independence so that we are not reliant on unstable countries around the world for our oil.
