HATCH: BUSH ECONOMIC PLAN IS WORKING

Washington — Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) issued the following statement on reports that unemployment figures fell for the third straight month in October:

“President Bush’s economic plan is proving to be just the right medicine,” said Hatch. “He knows that one thing a president can do – one of the few things any president can do – to help the economy is take off the shackles by lowering taxes. The president took quick action to get the economy he inherited turned around. Now we’re seeing the fruits of his decisive moves.”

Payroll numbers show an increase of 126,000 jobs for the month of October. The household survey also indicates that employment in America is at an all-time high, with total employment now at more than 138 million jobs. The good news about jobs comes on the heels of data showing an astounding 7 percent rate of growth in the economy for the third quarter 2003.
