Costello was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation, recognizing his support of ongoing construction on the Chain of Rocks Canal Levee.

US Congressman Jerry Costello visits Southern Illinois University Research Park on the campus of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Costello has secured over $2 million in funding for infrastructure development in the research park. When completed, the park is expected to have over $40 million in new construction and 1,200 new jobs with an annual payroll of $45 million. It is expected to have an economic impact of $90 million each year on Southern Illinois.
