WASHINGTON, DC - A group of 90 U.S. Representatives, led by Congressman Steny Hoyer, sent a letter this week to the Chairmen and Ranking members of the Appropriations Committee and the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee urging them to include funding in the FY 2005 Homeland Security Appropriations bill for fire fighter staffing.

Congressman Hoyer Tours Cove Point
LUSBY, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today toured Dominion Cove Point Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Facility where he was briefed by Mike Frederick, the Director of LNG Operations, Mike Garner, the Manager of LNG Operations and the U.S. Coast Guard about the Facilitys operations and the safety measures they have in place.

Hoyer: Donate Used Cell Phones, Help Seniors and the Environment
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer visited seniors at the Calvert Pines Senior Center and met with representatives from each of the three Senior Centers in Calvert County today to discuss their important initiative to collect used cell phones that seniors can use in an emergency. Congressman Hoyer donated over twenty used cell phones to the Calvert County Office on Aging.

Hoyer Announces Federal Funds to Connect Entrepreneurs with Region’s Top Resources
LA PLATA, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today visited the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) to announce almost $500,000 in federal funds he secured for business incubation programs supported by CSM and the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) Business Incubation Initiative to fund the further development of the existing incubators in Charles and Calvert Counties. The funding will also support business incubation initiatives at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Hoyer Visits Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center
CHARLOTTE HALL - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined community leaders on education and child care issues to observe how a federal grant in the amount of $540,165 that the Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center received for early learning opportunities is being implemented. Rep. Hoyer was briefed about the Centers use of the grant by Executive Director Becky Stevens and the Center staff.
