Hoyer Talks BRAC With Southern Maryland Leaders

SOUTHERN MARYLAND - Congressman Steny Hoyer today met with nearly 200 business and community leaders from throughout Southern Maryland at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum to discuss the upcoming BRAC in 2005 and the success of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and St. Inigoes. Last week, the House of Representatives passed the fiscal year 2005 Defense Appropriations bill which included millions of dollars, secured at the request of Congressman Hoyer, to support the growing number of high priority projects being worked on at Pax River and St. Inigoes. Hoyer Tours Communications Facility at St. Inigoes

SOUTHERN MARYLAND - Congressman Steny Hoyer today toured the Special Communications Requirements Facility at St. Inigoes. Congressman Hoyer secured $5.2 million in federal funding for this facility which supports the work St. Inigoes does providing mobile communications equipment to warfighters in all branches of the military.

Hoyer Makes 4th Visit to Pentagon to Discuss Upcoming Round of Base Closings with Officials

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer released the following statement today after meeting with five major BRAC players at the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. This is the fourth time Congressman Hoyer has visited the Pentagon to meet with officials to discuss the military installations he represents within the past year. Hoyer has conducted these meetings to educate Pentagon decision makers on the important work conducted at Pax River, Indian Head and St. Inigoes.

Hoyer Ensures House Remains Dedicated to Restoring Bay's Oyster Population

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer announced that the House of Representatives included $3 million in the Fiscal Year 2004 Energy and Water funding bill for the Oyster Restoration Project which is coordinating the revival of oysters in the bay. To date, Hoyer has helped obtain more than $18 million in federal funding for the program.
