Hoyer Announces Funds for Lexington Manor, Boys and Girls Club and Girl Scout Camp in Southern Maryland

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer today announced that the House Appropriations Committee approved the fiscal year 2005 federal funding bill that funds the Veterans Administration, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and additional Independent Agencies at the end of last week which included $625,000 for projects that will benefit Southern Maryland. Funding for these three projects were added to the bill at the request of Congressman Hoyer and were not requested in the President's fiscal year 2005 budget.

Hoyer Secures Major Defense Funds To Benefit Indian Head

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer announced that the House of Representatives approved the fiscal year 2005 Military Construction Appropriations bill last night that provides funds for two projects important to Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center and Charles County. Only one of these projects was included in the President's fiscal year 2005 budget, the other was added to the bill at the request of Congressman Steny Hoyer.

Hoyer Announces Funds for Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer today announced that the House of Representatives approved the fiscal year 2005 Military Construction Appropriations bill last night that provides $80 million for a new facility to house the Marine Corps' Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program expected to be based at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Congressman Hoyer is a senior member of the powerful Appropriations Committee.

Hoyer Ensures Funds for Prince George's County Remain in Final Defense Bill

WASHINGTON - The U.S. House of Representatives last evening passed the fiscal year 2005 Defense Appropriations conference report, agreed to by both the House and the Senate, that contains $1.9 million in funding for Beretta USA Corp. and $1 million in funding for Native American Industrial Distributors, Inc. (NAID), both located in Prince George's County. Congressman Steny Hoyer is a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and funds for these two projects were added to the bill at his request.

Hoyer Secures Millions in Defense Dollars For Pax River - Ensures Funds Remain in Final Bill

WASHINGTON - The U.S. House of Representatives last evening passed the fiscal year 2005 Defense Appropriations conference report, agreed to by both the House and the Senate, that contains funding important to Patuxent River Naval Air Station and Southern Maryland. This funding was added to the Defense Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2005 at Congressman Hoyer's request and was not included in the President's defense funding request for fiscal year 2005. Hoyer is a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and worked to ensure these funds remained in the final version of this bill.

Hoyer Congratulates 5th District Winners Of The Greater Washington Soap Box Derby

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer today congratulated the winners of the 63rd race of the “Greater Washington Soap Box Derby” which took place on the grounds of the United States Capitol in June. All three winners reside in the 5th Congressional District. Haley Luense of Accokeek was the winner of the Stock Division race, Robert “Robbie” Reuss of Waldorf was the winner of the Super Stock Division race, and Robert McDaniel of Bowie won the Masters Division ace. All three will compete in the national competition held in Akron, Ohio on July 31st.

Hoyer Working to Improve St. Jerome Creek

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny Hoyer today announced that the Army Corps of Engineers will proceed immediately with the engineering and design phase of a dike system for dredged materials and the Environmental Assessment that must be completed prior to the actual maintenance dredging of St. Jerome Creek. Congressman Hoyer and Maryland’s Senators, Paul Sarbanes and Barbara Mikulski, helped to facilitate this arrangement so that the study could be expedited immediately.
