Wednesday, June 21, 2006 Eighteen Local Students Offered Appointments to U.S. Service Academies
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today hosted a congratulatory tea on Capitol Hill for students from the Fifth Congressional District (Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s and areas of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties) that were offered appointments to a U.S. Service academy this year. A list of the 18 students who received appointment offers along with the name of their high school is attached.
Wednesday, June 14, 2006 Hoyer on House Passage of A-76 Amendment
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today applauded the House of Representatives for reauthorizing an important provision in the FY 2007 Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development Act to restore fairness for federal employees to the flawed OMB Circular A-76 privatization process. The provision was first included in the FY 2006 bill at the request of Congressman Hoyer.

Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed the FY07 Transportation, Treasury, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act which includes a 2.7% pay adjustment for civilian federal workers, the same amount provided by the House-passed Defense Authorization bill for military personnel.

WASHINGTON, DC– Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today released the following statement in response to the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement that the National Capital Region’s Urban Areas Security Initiative allocation is being reduced from last year’s level of $77 million to $46 million, a 40 percent reduction.
