Congressman Hoyer Attends Grand Opening of Dynamix

GREENBELT, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration for the new offices of Dynamix Corp. in Greenbelt, Md. Dynamix Corp. is an SBA HubZone and Small Disadvantaged Business that provides Geographic Information System (GIS), information technology, and relocation services to federal government entities. Dynamix's former headquarters was located in Landover, Md.

Hoyer Breaks Ground for Hughesville Bypass

HUGHESVILLE, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined state and local officials to break ground for the Hughesville Bypass. At the request of Congressman Hoyer, $10 million in federal funds was included in the Transportation Reauthorization bill earlier this year for the Hughesville Bypass. The Senate passed the Transportation Reauthorization bill in February and the differences in the two bills are being worked out in a Conference Committee before the bill may become law.

Hoyer and Owens Participate in Signing Ceremony for Rockhold Creek Project Cooperation Agreement

DEALE, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined County Executive Janet S. Owens, Colonel Robert Davis from the Corps of Engineers, officials from the State Department of Natural Resources and members of the community to participate in a signing ceremony for the Rockhold Creek Project Cooperation Agreement to affirm their commitment to protect the shoreline along Rockhold Creek. Congressman Hoyer was instrumental in keeping this project on schedule. He has also secured more than $1 million for dredging projects at Rockhold Creek. Hoyer Announces Major COPS Funding for Hyattsville

HYATTSVILLE, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) today joined Hyattsville Police Chief Douglas Holland and Hyattsville Mayor Bill Gardiner to announce a $15,000 school resource grant recently awarded to the City of Hyattsville to assist local law enforcement agencies. This grant was made by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Secure Our Schools program, which provides funds to improve security at schools and on school grounds. Hoyer has been a strong supporter of the COPS Program which has provided 678 new officers to the 5th Congressional District.

Hoyer Announces Federal Transportation Funding to Benefit State of Maryland

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded two grants to the State of Maryland to make improvements to the MD-214 bridge over the Patuxent River and to enhance the Maryland Scenic Byways Guidebook. Congressman Hoyer is a senior member of the Appropriations Subcommittee that funds the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Hoyer Joins Business Leaders to Discuss Ways to Develop Maryland's High Tech Industry

SEABROOK, MD - The Prince George's Network of the Technology Council of Maryland and Lockheed Martin Information Technology hosted a forum today with Congressman Steny Hoyer and business leaders from throughout the state to discuss how to help grow the technology industry in Maryland. Congressman Hoyer spoke directly to business leaders about how public/private partnerships can effectively bring economic opportunities and prosperity to Prince George's County.

Hoyer Joins Alice Ferguson Foundation's 50th Anniversary Celebration

ACCOKEEK, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined the Alice Ferguson Foundation to celebrate their 50th Anniversary and helped dedicate the new Solar Energy System at the Wareham Lodge. Hoyer was the keynote speaker at the celebration event and talked about the important public and private partnerships necessary to sustain organizations like Alice Ferguson Foundation and the value of the work that they do for children.

Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department To Receive Federal Grant For New Equipment

WASHINGTON - Congressman Hoyer announced today that the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a federal Fire Grant in the amount of $186,417 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Caucus, Congressman Hoyer was very active in helping establish and fund the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which helps local fire departments in Maryland and across the country buy equipment and provide adequate training.

Hoyer Joins University of Maryland to Announce Federal Grant to Ignite Civic Spirit of UM Students

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer today joined students from the University of Maryland, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and the University’s Center for American Politics and Citizenship to announce a grant that will, in part, provide training for U.S. college students to serve as poll workers on Nov. 2. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s “Help America Vote College Program” awarded the University a $25,000 grant.
