Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department To Receive Federal Grant to Rehab Fire Truck

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) announced today that the Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a federal Fire Grant in the amount of $85,500 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Caucus, Congressman Hoyer was very active in helping establish and fund the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which helps local fire departments in Maryland and across the country buy equipment and provide adequate training.

Hoyer Re-Introduces Bill to Lower Federal Employee Health Insurance Costs

WASHINGTON - House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (MD) reintroduced legislation this week to increase the government's share of Federal Employee Health Care Benefit Plan premiums from 72 percent to 80 percent. Hoyer was joined in reintroducing the bill by a bipartisan group of 46 members including Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA).

Hoyer and Maryland Delegation Briefed on Tsunami Relief Efforts by Maryland-Based Organizations

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) today joined the Maryland Congressional Delegation to meet with representatives from the major Maryland-headquartered non-governmental organizations that have been involved in tsunami relief, reconstruction, and development efforts. The organizations provided a description of the conditions in the areas recovering from the disaster, as well as an update on their involvement in the recovery efforts.

Hoyer Energizes Federal Employees on Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today met with two of the leading organizations representing Federal Employees on Capitol Hill. This morning, he met with the National League of Postmasters and had breakfast with more than 200 of their members including league president Steve LeNoir and Joe Cooper from the 5th Congressional District. Later today, he attended the AFGE Congressional Reception which is part of AFGE’s week-long 2005 Legislative and Grassroots Mobilization Conference. More than 700 members of AFGE, including national vice presidents, council presidents and local presidents from across the country are in Washington this week, and Congressman Hoyer addressed the group this evening.

Hoyer Thanks IOM for Agreeing to Reimburse Local Iraqi Election Security Costs in Prince George’s County
