Hoyer Delivers Millions in Transportation Funding for Southern Maryland
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) announced today that the House of Representatives passed a bill which approved major funds to improve Southern Maryland’s transportation infrastructure. The funds were included in the Transportation Reauthorization bill which authorizes federal funding for transportation projects over the next six years.

Hoyer and Norton Announce $50 Million in Transportation Funding for South Capitol Gateway
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny Hoyer and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton announced today that the House of Representatives passed a bill which approved major funds to improve the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area’s transportation infrastructure. The funds were included in the Transportation Reauthorization bill which authorizes federal funding for transportation projects over the next six years.

Hoyer: It Is Moral Obligation to Provide a Safety Net For Most Vulnerable Americans
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) highlighted the negative impact that GOP proposals to privatize Social Security would have on Americans with disabilities and their families. Disabled workers, people with disabilities and their families account for 17% of Americans receiving Social Security benefits. Hoyer was joined by Rep. Jim Langevin (RI), Chairman of the House Democrats’ Disability Caucus, Deborah Mason, from Waldorf, Maryland, the mother of a developmentally disabled child, and James Brown, a disabled worker.

Hoyer Speaks to National Community Action Foundation
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today spoke to the National Community Action Foundation (NCAF), an organization made up of more than 700 participants representing Community Action Agency directors, Head Start directors, and state and local officials including members representing Maryland Community Action Agencies. Rep. Hoyer discussed the devastating cuts in the President’s budget request for fiscal year 2006 to programs that these leaders rely on to assist their communities including the Community Services Block Grant, the Community Action Agencies (CSBG), Head Start, and LIHEAP.

Hoyer Sends Letter to NASA to Ensure Federal Funds Are Used to Repair Hubble Telescope
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Representative Alan Mollohan (D-WV), the top Democrat on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Science, State, Justice, and Commerce today sent a letter to Acting NASA Administrator Frederick Gregory to ensure that the full $291 million appropriated in Fiscal Year 2005 is used to support a servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. The Hubble Space Telescope is managed and operated by the Goddard Space Flight Center which is located in Congressman Hoyer’s district.

Hoyer Applauds New Recommendations for South Capitol Gateway Project
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) today applauded the National Capital Planning Commission’s (NCPC) South Capitol Street Task Force after they presented their recommendations to transform South Capitol Street into a signature gateway in the nation’s capital following months study with federal and local partners. Hoyer has been the lead federal partner in support of the South Capitol Gateway Project and has secured millions in federal funds to keep this project moving forward.
