Rep. Hoyer, Sen. Nelson Propose National Full-Service Community Schools Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) introduced a bill to authorize funding for Full-Service Community Schools (H.R. 2207), which are public schools that coordinate multiple educational and social service programs with community-based organizations and public/private partnerships.

Hoyer Breaks Ground for Presidential Helicopter Facility

LEXINGTON PARK, MD - Congressman Hoyer joined state, local and Navy officials to break ground for the new VXX Presidential Helicopter Program Support Facility at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Congressman Hoyer was instrumental in securing the initial $40 million in federal funds last year to begin construction of the facility to house the Marine Corps’ Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program at Pax.

Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Awarded Federal Fire Grant

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) announced that the Maryland Fire and Rescue Unit (MFRI) at the University of Maryland, College Park has been awarded a federal Fire Grant in the amount of $750,000. As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, Congressman Hoyer was very active in helping establish and fund the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which helps local fire departments in Maryland and across the country buy equipment and provide adequate training.

Hoyer Delivers Funds for Laurel College Center

Congressman Steny Hoyer joined the Presidents of Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and Howard Community College (HCC) to announce the award of almost $200,000 for the Laurel College Center that he secured in the federal Omnibus Appropriations Act passed by the Congress late last year.
