Hoyer Receives 100% Rating from Leading Hispanic Groups
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) received a perfect rating from the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA) for the first and second sessions of the 108th Congress. The NHLA compiled the legislative scorecard to inform Hispanics about Senators and Members of Congress’s record on issues of importance to Hispanic communities. Rep. Hoyer’s 100 percent score reflects his ongoing commitment to securing basic civil rights and providing a better quality of life for all Hispanics.

Hoyer Awarded George Bush Medal for the Empowerment of People with Disabilities
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) was awarded the George Bush Medal for the Empowerment of People with Disabilities last night at the National Council on Disability’s 15th Anniversary Observance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Former President George H.W. Bush presented him with the award. As the lead sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 in the House of Representatives, Congressman Hoyer shepherded the ADA to overwhelming approval. Over the past 15 years, Hoyer has fought to ensure that the promise of the ADA is fulfilled for all people with disabilities.

House Passed Bill Renews Support for Hubble

House Authorizes Army Corps To Proceed on Important Waterway Restoration Projects in Southern Maryland
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) today announced that several water resource programs and projects important to the environmental and economic health of Maryland and the 5th Congressional District were authorized in the House-passed version of the Water Resources Development Act of 2005. Each of the following programs were included in the bill at Congressman Hoyer’s request and will allow the Army Corps of Engineers to make progress on these projects or studies to improve Southern Maryland’s water quality and surrounding environment.
